Wednesday Wits #108

The purpose of this blog is to help writers with their work, to be museful or perhaps instrumental in unclogging thoughts. To this end, I am providing a daily question, beginning sentence, beginning paragraph, prompt, and word-of-the-day to stimulate your “little gray cells.”

Question: What outfit brings out the best in you?

Sentence: As the storm approached, the wild wind whistled through the waving weeping willows.

Paragraph: Although his capture, trial, and conviction had been expeditious, ten years passed before the state managed to execute Thomas W. Stevens. As I watched his pathetic life ebb, I prayed with all my heart that there was a hell to forever consume and torment his unremorseful soul. While the curtains behind the glass were drawn and the other witnesses left, I remained behind in a foggy trance until a tap on my shoulder unclouded my mind. I rose knowing the uncertainty of my life had not dissipated.

Prompt: Name your favorite sound.

Word of the Day: limn vt limned; limning  1 : to draw or paint on a surface  2 : to outline in clear sharp detail : DELINEATE  3 : DESCRIBE <the novel ~s the frontier life of the settlers>  (Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition, 2011)

If your work needs a title, tweaking, or critiquing, please do not hesitate to ask. Cyranette is here for you.

About Cyranette

I have been writing since I was 11 and am now a grandmother of 9. Aside from my family, I love writing, reading, movies, gardening, genealogy, and travel. I met my soulmate online and we've been married 19 years. I am a survivor of rape, abuse, and cancer. I believe in love, kindness, and common sense. I was born/raised in Indiana and have lived in Massachusetts, Texas, and California. I have visited: most of the United States, British Columbia, Germany, Austria, and Costa Rica. My husband and I would like to visit England, Europe, and New Zealand and to take a train ride along the Canadian/American border. I have written essays, articles, short stories, a romance novel, a self-help book, and several children's books.

  1. Cyranette, thank you for unplugging me this morning! 🙂 I noticed that you are available to help with tweaking …. and that you as well are a survivor. I was wondering, and hoping, if you’d have a moment to browse my newest novel and perhaps provide me with initial thoughts on the first few chapters that are posted? I would be honored to seek your opinion. In the meantime, I’m off to limn my next piece! 🙂 Thank you!
