The purpose of this blog is to help writers with their work, to be museful or perhaps instrumental in unclogging thoughts. To this end, I am providing a daily question, beginning sentence, beginning paragraph, prompt, and word-of-the-day to stimulate your “little gray cells.”
Question: When was the first time you were naughty?
Sentence: Atop the new grave, a garter snake basked in the sun.
Paragraph: As if being born an albino wasn’t bad enough, my parents named me Snowflake. I suppose I should be grateful they didn’t call me Pinkie because of my eyes. However, the best thing my artistic procreators did do for me was to move us to Astoria, Oregon, which they discovered has the fewest sunny days in the lower 48. With Mom being a potter and Dad a glassblower, weather and location were irrelevant; they could set up shop anywhere.
Prompt: Name your favorite type of art.
Word of the Day: gray eminence – n. a person who wields unofficial power, esp. through another person and often surreptitiously or privately. Also called eminence grise. (RANDOM HOUSE WEBSTER’S COLLEGE DICTIONARY, 1991)
If your work needs a title, tweaking, or critiquing, please do not hesitate to ask. Cyranette is here for you.
