The purpose of this blog is to help writers with their work, to be museful or perhaps instrumental in unclogging thoughts. To this end, I am providing a daily question, beginning sentence, beginning paragraph, prompt, and word-of-the-day to stimulate your “little gray cells.”
Question: Do you have a high or low level of tolerance for the bad behavior of others?
Sentence: Empathy is something that not everyone feels.
Paragraph: Having never been in a police station before, I had no idea what to expect. Nervous as all get out at first, I rubbed my clammy palms on my thighs several times while I waited to be interviewed. The room was just as nondescript as any I had seen on TV or in the movies, only now I could smell. The cement blocks surrounding me had absorbed the sweat and blood of everything that had come before me: fear, hatred, disrespect, guilt, violence, anxiety, hopelessness, and addiction. For some reason, however, the reek eventually calmed me. I was only there to provide information; I had done nothing wrong.
Prompt: Make a list of things you cannot abide.
Word of the Day: infrangible – adj. 1 that cannot be broken or separated 2 that cannot be violated or infringed (WEBSTER’S NEW WORLD COLLEGE DICTIONARY, 3rd ed., 1996)
If your work needs a title, tweaking, or critiquing, please do not hesitate to ask. Cyranette is here for you.
