The purpose of this blog is to help writers with their work, to be museful or perhaps instrumental in unclogging thoughts. To this end, I am providing a daily question, beginning sentence, beginning paragraph, prompt, and word-of-the-day to stimulate your “little gray cells.”
Question: How has your character been tested?
Sentence: He woke up on a hard surface, his eyes burning when he tried to open them.
Paragraph: If Momma hadn’t yanked me away from that socket, I guess I’d be dead today. I wonder what that would feel like. Being dead. How come nobody comes back to tell us? I think, if Grandy had whispered in my ear from his coffin that death was awful, I might stop trying to test it out.
Prompt: Describe the way(s) you are different from the rest of your family.
Word of the Day: fairish – adj. 1. moderately good or large. 2. moderately light in color. (RANDOM HOUSE WEBSTER’S COLLEGE DICTIONARY, 1991)
If your work needs a title, tweaking, or critiquing, please do not hesitate to ask. Cyranette is here for you.
