The purpose of this blog is to help writers with their work, to be museful or perhaps instrumental in unclogging thoughts. To this end, I am providing a daily question, beginning sentence, beginning paragraph, prompt, and word-of-the-day to stimulate your “little gray cells.”
Question: Are you good at hiding your feelings?
Sentence: Even in death, the bond between them could not be broken.
Paragraph: Mom’s gonna kill me, I kept chanting in my head, like I’d been doing since Kristie and I had gotten here – Avalon Art. Everyone, but parents, knew AA was where underage kids could go for tats. It wasn’t as if it was in some seedy part of town, ya know, but in a converted garage just a few blocks from Adaron High School. Kind of convenient, if you wanted a small tat done before dinner. Kristie had been begging me to get one since September, but I refused on the grounds that she was stupid if she thought I’d do it while the weather was still warm and I could die of heatstroke wearing long sleeves and jeans to hide the damn thing.
Prompt: Describe the coldest day you have ever experienced.
Word of the Day: duffer – n 1 a : a peddler esp. of cheap flashy articles b : something counterfeit or worthless 2 : an incompetent, ineffectual, or clumsy person; esp : a mediocre golfer 3 Austral : a cattle rustler (Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition, 2011)
If your work needs a title, tweaking, or critiquing, please do not hesitate to ask. Cyranette is here for you.
