Saturday Ideas #79

The purpose of this blog is to help writers with their work, to be museful or perhaps instrumental in unclogging thoughts. To this end, I am providing a daily question, beginning sentence, beginning paragraph, prompt, and word-of-the-day to stimulate your “little gray cells.”

Question: When you were a kid, what was your favorite playground apparatus?

Sentence: When Sandra’s new foster mother poured skim milk into her cereal, she knew this one was not going to work out either.

Paragraph: Standing atop the mountain peak, the wind fiercely buffeted him. He closed his eyes and spread his arms, daring to be blown away. An eagle’s piercing cry broke his revelry and he watched it soar, wondering if it was ever for mere pleasure rather than just a hunt for food. Magnificent! Suddenly the bird plummeted and then he heard the crack of a rifle.

Prompt: Briefly describe an alternate world.

Word of the Day: younker 1 : a young man  2 : CHILD, YOUNGSTER (Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition, 2011)

If your work needs a title, tweaking, or critiquing, please do not hesitate to ask. Cyranette is here for you.

About Cyranette

I have been writing since I was 11 and am now a grandmother of 9. Aside from my family, I love writing, reading, movies, gardening, genealogy, and travel. I met my soulmate online and we've been married 19 years. I am a survivor of rape, abuse, and cancer. I believe in love, kindness, and common sense. I was born/raised in Indiana and have lived in Massachusetts, Texas, and California. I have visited: most of the United States, British Columbia, Germany, Austria, and Costa Rica. My husband and I would like to visit England, Europe, and New Zealand and to take a train ride along the Canadian/American border. I have written essays, articles, short stories, a romance novel, a self-help book, and several children's books.

Was and still is the see-saw. Although I also love the swings! (Note the tense. 😉 )

Oh dear, I kind of repeated myself on that one, didn’t I? This one being a question, while the previous one had been a prompt. Oh well, c’est la vie…I loved the slides and swings, good old wooden-seated swings. The see-saw/teeter-totter was not good for me. I didn’t weigh enough to get my seat back down. 🙂
